When most people picture Nissan vehicles, they think of practical and reliable models with great technology, comfort, and performance. This combination isn’t necessarily ideal for racing, but Nissan has made a name for itself in the racing world as well, and that has paid off. The new Nissan Maxima has officially earned the role of the Safety Car at competitive racing events.
Nissan Maxima at The Oak Tree Grand Prix
The Oak Tree Grand Prix took place at Virginia International Raceway by Danville, Virginia, in late August, and during this event, the 2016 Maxima served as the event’s official Safety Car. Despite its luxury amenities and 4-door styling, the Maxima fit right in due to its designation as a sports car. Then, in mid-September, the Maxima repeated its official duties at the Circuit of the Americas’ Lone Star Le Mans race in Austin, Texas.

In addition to providing the official Safety Car for these events, Nissan had competitors involved as well. There were two 370Z NISMOs that competed in the Oak Tree Grand Prix’s Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge. Nissan is an official partner of the sanctioning body of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, IMSA. Because of this, multiple power plants and cars have been fielded by Nissan in recent seasons.
Whether you are interested in the safe and sporty 4-door 2016 Maxima or a sportier model, like the 370Z NISMO, the team at Jack Ingram Nissan in Montgomery, Alabama, can work with you to configure your ideal Nissan.
