To begin, the Nissan Maxima and the Nissan Altima offer efficient performance in their respective classes. The Maxima is a full-size sedan, while the Altima is considered midsize. With its standard 3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve V6 engine, the 2018 Maxima churns out a cool 300 horsepower. This engine gets drivers an EPA-estimated 21 MPG when driving in the city and 30 MPG when driving on the highway*. The Maxima offers one V6 engine option, while the Altima offers two options. They include a standard 2.5-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine as well as an optional 3.5-liter DOHC V6 engine option.
